The machine has been developed to meet the ever growing demand for higher production output for expanded can bodies. It is based on the same principle as our well-known and proven types of single- and double-headed expansion machines of the AFMR series. The SFM can process both longitudinally welded and brazed hulls. In each case, the shape is determined by the expanding tool used on the machine. The fuselage cross-section can be rectangular, oval, mandolin-shaped, square with round ends, or can be given any other shape that is within the sheet metal’s formability range.

SFM2/22

AFMR / AFMK / AFMP
The AFMR automatically processes brazed or welded can bodies. Rectangular, oval and other cross-sections can be formed with appropriate tools. The shell surfaces can be parallel or conical. The machine has two working stations. In the first station, the hull is seam-positioned. The position of the welded or brazed seam can be easily fixed by adjusting the safety catch to any position around the entire circumference. In the second station, the fuselage is formed into the desired shape by a hydraulically operated expanding tool.

FM
The FM machine is a semi-automatic expanding machine for the production of expanded can bodies of any type and size. The can cross-section can be rectangular, square, oval, with embossed sides, or round, round-conical (for pails or drums), with or without beads. The side surfaces of the expanded hulls can be either parallel or conical to each other. The respective mold is mounted on a vertical slide system and connected to the hydraulic system with a hydraulic bayonet fitting. This ensures a quick and easy mold change.

SFV
The machine has two vertical working stations. In the first one is the seam orientation and in the second one is the expanding station. The throughput direction is from left to right. The shape is determined in each case by the expanding tool used on the machine. The hull shape can be rectangular, oval, mandolin, square with round ends, round, cylindrical, conical, bulbous, embossed or stacked bead, or get any other shape that is within the range of sheet formability.

The machine flanges cylindrical and conical can bodies of any shape on both sides using the slide flanging method. The advantage of this method is that small hull plate thicknesses and large hull heights can be processed without the risk of hull buckling or overrolling of the flanging in the radius area.

The machine seams non-round and round cans and containers of various types and is mainly used for seaming the bottoms and lids in canister production It operates with one four-roller seaming head each for the first and second seaming operation. Since it operates with beading shafts mounted on one side, it can be beaded not only can bodies but also finished cans with the bottom already seamed. This is an advantage when cans are produced on automatic flanging machines, since previously flanging cans can buckle in the flanges during flanging. Protective beading and external beading production is possible.

The machine is designed for automatic welding of bails to rectangular canister lids. The standard version is designed for plastic bails welded to steel lids with two Larsen N-11 or N-15 type fittings. Special designs for customized fittings and bails, including those made of wire, are also possible.

The machine is used to automatically attach wire bails to round tin cans that have already been provided with Larsen 20-S type eyelets in a previous manufacturing step. The following functions are performed automatically:
1. separation of the cans coming from the customer’s infeed conveyor (one after the other as a can queue with random orientation of the eyelets).
2. search, detection and positioning of the eyelets.
3. separation and feeding of the straightened, pre-cut wires and forming and application of the bail.
