The series of SFM stretch forming machines has been developed for stretch forming can bodies to meet the steadily increasing demands for higher output. The machine is based on the same principle as the well known and proven types of single and dual head stretch forming machines of the AFMR series.These machines are capable of stretch forming either soldered or welded can bodies. The final shape of the can is determined by the tools which are build for the machine: rectangular, oval, mandolin shaped, square with rounded ends or virtually any other shape within the limitations of the material used.

SFM2/22

AFMR / AFMK / AFMP
The AFMR machine is designed for automatic forming of cylindrical, soldered or welded bodies. The body can be formed to rectangular, oval or pear-shaped cross-section, depending on the tooling mounted in the machine. The AFMR machine is designed with two stations. In the first station the cylindrical body is overlap-controlled, i.e. the overlap is always placed in right position in relation to the cross-section of the body or decoration, if any. The overlap can be placed 360° along the whole circumference of the body. In the second station a tooling is mounted. This tooling makes the design of the body.

FM
The FM machine is a semi-automatic stretch forming machine suitable for production of all kinds of expanded cans. The cross section of the can body may be irregular, e. g. square, rectangular, oval, pear-shaped or round, (e. g. conical pails or drums), with or without beads. The sides of the expanded body may be parallel or conical. The tooling is mounted in a vertical slide system and connected with hydraulic bayonet catches, assuring a very easy change-over from one can size to another. Due to the very short change-over time, the FM machine is well suited for small scale production or as a supplement to avoid changing over more complicated automatic equipment by smaller series. As toolings are always made to suit the FM as well as our automatic range of machinery, it is often suitable to start up a production of a new product by using the FM. If the new product proves successful the same tooling can be used in an automatic machine with higher output.

SFV
The machine has two vertical working stations. The side seam locating unit is situated in the first and the stretch forming station in the second. The cycle runs from left to right. The final shape of the can is determined by the tooling which is fitted to the machine. The final shape can be rectangular, oval, mandolin shaped, square with round ends, round, cylindrical, conical, bellied, embossed or beaded or any other shape within the limitations of the material used.

SBA 200
The fully automatic SBA 200 is a double-end body flanger designed to handle rectangular and irregular, as well as round and cone-shaped can bodies. The machine can be set up for welded, soldered, or locked side seams. A variable motor drive allows adjustment to suit a wide range of can body shapes and line speeds. Squeeze flanging eliminates buckling of the can bodies and over-flanging on the corners. This makes the unit especially suitable for tall and thin can bodies. In addition, the radius of the flange can be easily selected, ensuring an optimal seam with the can ends.

SBA 300
The fully automatic SBA is a double-end body flanger designed to handle rectangular and irregular, as well as round and cone-shaped can bodies. The machine seams cans of all kinds. A bottom/lid is seamed onto a stationary can. For the first and the second seaming operation, a 4 roller-seaming head system is used. The machine is suitable for beading round can bodies or for parting prescored welded can bodies in two parts. It operates with propeller beading shafts so that finished cans with seamed ends as well as can bodies can be beaded. This is an advantage in the manufacture of cans in automatic die-flanging-seaming machines as pre-beaded bodies may collapse in the beads during the die flanging operation. Guard beads and outer beads are possible.

This machine is used for welding handles automatically to rectangular canister lids. The standard version is designed for plastic handles which are welded with the customer’s own single bracket to steel lids. Since the welding current has to flow from the electrode through the bracket and the lid to the counter electrode, only lids which are not lacquered on the reverse around the counter electrode can be processed. The machine is available as a special design for customer-specific handles, even those made of wire.

This machine is used for attaching wire bails automatically to round cans which have already been provided with ears, type Larsen 20-S, at an earlier stage in production. The following functions are fully automatic:
1. Separation of the cans which are transported by the customer’s own feeding belt (standing one behind the other in a queue, with random orientation of ears)
2. Search for, identification and positioning of ears.
3. Separation and infeed of positioned, pre-cut wires as well as forming and attaching the bail.

This machine is used for welding ears, type Larsen 5.3, automatically to round, cylindrical cans, and automatically forming and attaching bails made of plastic. The kind of welding process means that cans can be processed which are decorated or lacquered both on the inside and the outside.
-TV: The bails are attached in the same stage of production as the ears are welded, meaning that the bail is attached securely to the can and cannot detach itself.
-KV: The bails have a special hole at each end which means that the metal can and the plastic bail can be separated very easily later on for recycling.
